Saturday evening saw the Lightfoot Green clubhouse packed for the end of season awards dinner following another successful season for Preston Grasshoppers RFC.
Men, women, senior colts and junior colts were present as each team recognised the outstanding performances by individuals throughout the season. You can see a full list of the winners below but a special mention must go to Sean Taylor. After breaking Steve Kerry’s points in a league season record, Sean was voted as the 1st XV ‘Player’s Player of the Year’ as well as picking up the ‘Player of the Year’ which is selected by the coaching staff.

Danielle Nash was another multiple award winner as she replicated Sean’s achievement by winning both ‘Player’s Player’ and ‘Player of the Year’ for the Ladies team. Andy Horrocks of the 3rd XV also received 2 awards for ‘Player’s Player’ and ‘Best Newcomer’.
The club was delighted to recognise 6th XV skipper Ian Gaskell who was awarded the ‘Volunteer of the Year’ award for all his hard work in running the team over the last few years.
The ‘Team of the Year’ award was a very close affair which boiled down to the cup winning 2nd XV and the league winning 3rd XV. The 3rd’s walked away with the award after bouncing straight back up as champions of Division 2 North after being relegated in the previous season.
Well done to all award winners and a big thank you to all those who have given up their time this season to ensure the club can sustain 6 senior mens sides, a ladies side and both a junior and senior colts. This is something that Preston Grasshoppers is very proud of and long may it continue thanks to the hard work and support of so many.
