POWERFUL HOWARD ADDS TO HOPPERS PACK

Date: 11 August 2018

PGRFC is thrilled to confirm the addition of the powerful Adam Howard to the squad for the 2018/19 season.

Howard 29, is a former player with Darlington Mowden Park, West Hartlepool and Wharfedale whilst he has also represented York City Knights RLFC. In union he has made close to 130 appearances with most of those having been for Wharfedale. He has represented Durham and was selected as part of the Yorkshire RFU County Championship Squad for the 2018/19 County Championship only to be ruled out by injury.

Comfortable in all three rows of the pack, Howard will be a familiar face to the Hoppers faithful having scored a powerhouse try at Lightfoot Green for Wharfedale at the end of the 2016/17 season.

Talking about his decision to move to Lightfoot Green Adam said “Playing for Preston Grasshoppers is something I am really looking forward to. The facilities and the coaching set up at the club are fantastic and I can’t wait to be part of what is an exciting time for the club. I believe it has huge potential and it was that ambition that impressed me when thinking about making the move.

Leaving a great club like Wharfedale was an extremely hard thing to do but I feel like I am in the right place to challenge myself. This will mean I will have no comfort zone and bring the best out of me on the pitch. I can’t wait to get out there and play in front of what I hope will be a great Hoppers crowd at Lightfoot Green this season”.

Head Coach Paul Arnold said “Adam is powerful and versatile and has reported for pre-season in good shape ready to lay down a marker for the season ahead. I have a few ideas on where he can best fit into the team and thrive and I am really looking forward to seeing how he goes. He will add power to the forwards, brings a big ball carrying game and we want to see him adding a further physical edge to our game”.

Welcome to PGRFC Adam!
