PRESTON GRASSHOPPERS TO BECOME COVID VACCINE SUPER CENTRE

Date: 30 January 2021

The people of Preston and surrounding areas are to benefit from a purpose-built, NHS Covid-19 mass vaccination service to help protect as many of the eligible population as possible over the coming months. Following a successful flu vaccination programme last Autumn the Lancashire Vaccination Centre Preston is returning to join the fight against the virus.

Preston Grasshoppers provides a convenient location for the centre, which has been designed to offer COVID-safe, efficient vaccinations at scale with ample car parking for the anticipated high numbers of patients.

Michael Ball, Service lead said ‘It is vital that as many people from the eligible groups as possible receive a covid-19 vaccination. When you get a vaccination, you are protecting yourself and others. Wait to receive your invitation for a vaccination from the NHS at which point you can select where you would like to have it administered.  We have set up this centre to provide a facility that can help to protect the population of Preston and the surrounding area at this critical time.’

The centre, expected to commence vaccinating at the beginning of February, will have the capacity to provide thousands of vaccinations per week. Bookings must be made through the national booking system with instructions on how to do this found in the invite letter from the NHS.
