Preston Guild Community Procession

Date: 10 September 2012

World Record Broken

Preston Grasshoppers took part in the Preston Guild Community Procession on Friday 7th September. The club was one of around 120 floats to take part in the procession with tens of thousands of spectators lining the route creating a wonderful atmosphere which will never be forgotten by those that took part.

A group of rugby players from the club made an attempt on the ‘most consecutive legal rugby passes over 5m’ world record which stood at 279. On the first attempt the players clocked up around 200 passes before the referee decided a pass had been less than 5 metres. Not to be discouraged and with the crowd cheering them on the lads tried again and are now the proud holders of a world record after clocking up 340 passes!

The club was represented by mini-juniors, archers, womens rugby players, male rugby players, cyclists, members, employees and presidents! Thank you so much for your time and efforts in organising, preparing and manning the float, we couldn’t have done it without you!
