The club is happy to announce that record try scorer and powerful Number 8 Matt Lamprey has extended his stay at Lightfoot Green and will be part of the club’s return to National 2 North.
Lamprey has been a virtual ever present during the 2018/19 campaign and is rapidly closing in on 200 career league appearances. He has again been a member of the senior Lancashire County Championship squad.
Speaking on his decision to re-commit, Matt said “After the success of this year it was a no-brainer to stay with Hoppers. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute on and off the pitch. I know it’s easy to be so positive when you are top of the league and have only lost twice, but there is a great attitude and atmosphere in the changing rooms and in the bar and I know next year will be more of the same. I just want to thank everyone involved from coaches, our fantastic captain and the backroom staff to the bar staff and kitchen staff that make the club what it is. My decision to stay for next year was inevitable due to the support from all these people”.
Head Coach Paul Arnold said “Matt has had an excellent season and his new tries in a season record will take some beating. He is an experienced campaigner who has quickly become a leader in the group. National 2 will hold no fears for him and he will relish the battles to come next season”.
