Sale FC for 2nd XV

Date: 24 April 2015

The second team conclude their Bateman Premier League campaign on Saturday with a re-scheduled home fixture against Sale FC. Hoppers know that victory will see them secure third place behind Sedgley Tigers and probable champions Macclesfield.

Ultimately Young’s men will reflect on the campaign with disappointment as they led the league for long periods and had genuine title ambitions. However their challenge faltered with a poor run of form which saw them lose four times in six outings. Hoppers’ points difference and defensive record compares favourably with their rivals whilst they can look back on some good performances against all of their main rivals at some point over the year.

Given that they are a young side which has promoted youth throughout they will doubtless learn from their experiences and redouble their efforts next season. It’s not all frustration for Hoppers as they have a cup final to look forward to.

Saturday presents the opportunity to maintain some form and ensure that confidence is high for the impending clash against Vale of Lune. Young fields a much changed squad as a number of players are either injured or unavailable.

Kick off is scheduled for 3pm with the squad convening at 1.30pm.
