The second team travel down to Whitefield on Saturday afternoon for a huge game against title rivals Sedgley Park. Hoppers sit top of Bateman Conference A by virtue of having played a game more. In order to maintain a realistic title challenge Saturday’s encounter is a must win game.
Back in January the Tigers grabbed a hard fought but extremely fortunate victory at Lightfoot Green. In fact it’s fair to say that Park have held something of an Indian Sign over Hoppers 2s in recent seasons. The two sides have shared some hard fought battles over the past few years but Hoopers have usually come up short. However Lough’s men have enjoyed a fine season and are a match for anybody in the league. Last week’s exceptional win at Stockport has left the squad extremely confident and in fine spirit.
The squad are meeting at 12.45 at Hoppers or 2pm at Sedgley Park in readiness for a 3pm kick off. Hoppers delay naming their squad until Saturday morning as a number of players are on representative duty this weekend. Additionally a number of experienced names are unavailable due to injury or other commitments.
