Seconds in Sedgley semi

Date: 06 April 2012

The 2nd XV renew their rivalry with Sedgley Park this Saturday as they travel down to Whitefield for a Raging Bull Cup semi-final. Should Hoppers reach the final they’ll have done it the hard way as the tie represents their fourth consecutive road trip. To date they’ve overcome Altrincham Kersal, Broughton Park and Caldy but Saturday’s opponents will present a far sterner challenge.

Park will be gunning for revenge, still smarting from their defeat at the hands of Lough’s men a fortnight ago. Hoppers meanwhile are in buoyant mood having thrashed Stockport last week. The result puts them firmly in control of Bateman Conference A as Fylde overcame Sedgley in a high scoring match at the Woodlands.

Sedgley will be strengthened come the weekend as their first team have a week off. Whilst our first team have no game this weekend the squad is being rested in order to push for that play off spot.

Hoppers have named a provisional squad but delay naming their side until Saturday morning. This is to allow for fitness tests on a number of players whilst they have lost several more to seasonal vacation or representative duties.

Kick off at Sedgley Park is 3pm and the squad would greatly appreciate as much support from Preston as possible for what promises to be another tense and nervy affair. Meet time at Hoppers is 12.45 or 1.30pm at Sedgley Park.
