Senior Player of the Month – December

Date: 04 January 2018

We are delighted to announce the December winner of the “Senior Player of the Month” award. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV Squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off-Field team.

The December winner of the Senior Player of the Month Award is Rob Meadows (sponsored by “Noblett’s Fish & Chips“) who pips Ryan Purcell and Sam Stott to the award.

On the face of it this may seem a left field selection given that Rob has been injured for some time having hurt his ankle several weeks ago whilst playing for the 2nd XV and hasn’t featured in a playing sense since.

However, Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “When we set up this award we said we would place equal importance on both on and off the field aspects as we strive to build a playing culture we can all be proud of. Rob has been injured for some time but his unrelenting desire to get back to action as soon as possible has meant he has been at every training session to do his rehab despite being on crutches and not being able to drive. Not only that, he has regularly attended games during that time and also ensured he has participated in the off the field events the squad has organised. It is that level of commitment that shows how much Rob wants to be part of the club and is an example to others how to conduct yourself when injured. We can’t wait to see Rob back in action. He was making a serious push for 1st XV selection when he got the injury and it is clear he wants to be back pushing for a place as soon as Physio Mark Taylor is happy for him to resume full training”.

The club would like to thank Baileys Financial Services who have agreed to sponsor the Senior Player and Club Player of the Month awards for the rest of the season.
