We are delighted to announce the January winner of the “Senior Player of the Month” award. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV Squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off-Field team.
The January winner of the Senior Player of the Month Award is Matt Lamprey (sponsored by Sun Dry Digital) who pips Scott Jordan and Peter Altham to the award.
Lamprey has been enjoying a stellar first season at the Green and has on several occasions been close to claiming the award earlier in the campaign. During January Matt scored 6 tries to take his season tally past Dominic Moon’s previous record of 21 league tries for a forward for a season and still has 8 games to extend this during the rest of the campaign. He was instrumental in the win over Hull by scoring one try and setting up a clinching score for Scott Jordan. He also added a hat trick in the rout of Kendal.
Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “Matt has been instrumental in our progress this season. We knew what we were getting by bringing him to the club and he has certainly done well in the season to date. Off the field he is developing as part of the leadership group and I believe there is a lot more to come from him both on and off the field”.
The club would like to thank Baileys Financial Services who have agreed to sponsor the Senior Player and Club Player of the Month awards for the rest of the season.
