Senior Player of the Month – November

Date: 29 November 2017

After much deliberation due to a large number of excellent performances we are delighted to announce the November winner of the “Senior Player of the Month” award. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV Squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off-Field team.

The November winner of the Senior Player of the Month Award is Ally Murray (sponsored by “The Freemans“) who has enjoyed an outstanding month and pips fellow back rower Matt Lamprey and impressive young prop Tyler Sloane to the award.

Ally made his 150th 1st XV appearance for the club in the game at Ilkley where he scored a crucial try in a strong Hoppers comeback. He followed this up with an instrumental performance in the game at Harrogate where his strong ball carrying was a key feature of a dominant Hoppers performance. He added another try in the top of the table win over Lymm with the quality of his performance recognised with the Man of the Match award by match sponsors Marcus Worthington Ltd.

Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “Ally has been consistently good throughout the campaign but he has really stepped it up during a crucial run of games during November. His ability to play across the back five of the scrum is extremely valuable but having a run of games in the back row has really allowed him to be a consistent and productive ball carrier gaining big yards in the process. Off the field he is growing as a leader within the group and he is setting standards for the rest of the group to follow”.

The club would like to thank Baileys Financial Services who have agreed to sponsor the Senior Player and Club Player of the Month awards for the rest of the season.
