We are delighted to announce the March winner of the “Senior Player of the Month” award. This award is given to a member of the 1st XV Squad who has impressed on and off the field during that month and is chosen by the Coaching and Off-Field team.
The March winner of the Senior Player of the Month Award is Captain Paul “PJ” Millea (sponsored by Hugh Duckworth).
Paul was presented with the Senior Player of the Month award for his outstanding leadership qualities of the team. He gives great motivational team talks not only before the games and at half time but also after the final whistle. He is available to support team mates with a fantastic attitude and is mentor to some of the less experienced members of the squad. He is hugely respected by his team mates as well as fans and officials of the ’Hoppers. Not least for Paul’s 100% commitment on the field of play leading the team to the championship and promotion in his first season as captain.
Head of Rugby Operations Gareth Dyer said “Paul has enjoyed a fantastic season both as player and captain. He has set the tone for what we wanted to achieve this season and the respect the squad and the off field team have for him is total. He also works very hard off the pitch to drive forward our culture and standards. This was an area we wanted to improve and develop and Paul as put that very much as the front of our approach. To do this whilst also being consistent in his level of playing performance is very impressive.”
