Senior Round Up

Date: 09 November 2015

The 3rd XV started the weekend off in style with a solid 25-3 over Warrington 2nd’s on Friday night to make it 5 wins in a row. The lads (pictured above) now sit joint third in the league and host Wirral 2 in the Quarter-Final of the Lighting and Building Services Jug next weekend.

The 1st XV hosted Otley on Saturday afternoon but failed to spark in front of a large crowd at Lightfoot Green. Despite a late rally the lads fell to a 3-17 loss. A trip to bottom of the table Luctonians takes on more significance next Saturday with Hoppers hovering just above the relegation zone.

Waterloo were the visitors as the 2nd XV looked to maintain their good start to the season. Poor conditions stifled the game but a professional performance saw the lads run out 22-12 winners. The 2nd XV travel to Sanbach next weekend in the Quarter-Final of the Brooke Edgley Specialist Technical Services Cup.

Jimmy Gray’s 4th XV had what looked like a tough trip to table toppers WIgan 2. Wigan proved too clinical for Hoppers running up a 52-8 win. Gray’s men will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they travel to Trafford Metrovick 2 after next weekends break.

Arguably the game of the weekend took place on pitch 3 at Lightfoot Green where Preston Grasshoppers 5th and 6th XV’s faced off in league action. A tight game was played in great spirits with a late try giving the 6th’s a tight 15-10 win.

The Colts had a tough afternoon on Sunday ending up on the wrong end of a 50-0 scoreline against Caldy. There was better news for the Women’s team with the league side drawing 5-5 at Birkenhead Park and the Development Team winning 15-14. The draw at Birkenhead Park moves the Women’s XV up to third in the Women’s Championship North 2.
