Hoppers head to Welford Road this week to take on South Leicester who were last week relegated despite an excellent away win at Otley. Sheffield Tigers’ win over Peterborough meant that with only 2 games remaining, Out Leicester cannot close the 15 point gap.
Saturday saw Hoppers win a 40-34 thriller against Stourbridge to complete the home away double over the Midlands side and the men from Lightfoot Green will be hoping for another this week to back up the 25-0 home win over South Leicester back in December.
With just 2 games left, Head Coach Paul Arnold had set his side a target of 85 points but he has now revised this to 90 points with a home game against 2nd placed Chester to come next week.
After battering away at the door for a number of seasons ‘South’ eventually gained promotion into National 2 North for the start of the 2015/16 season. Their promotion season saw them losing just once before finishing as Champions by some considerable margin over Hinckley who eventually gained promotion for the following season after they had lost in the play-off to Sandal.
Preston Grasshoppers record against South Leicester shows South having won three of the five encounters with a twenty points all draw at Lightfoot Green and the 25-0 win in December in Hoppers favour.
Supporters Bus
The 1869 Club are running a supporters coach to the last away game of the season this Saturday at South Leicester.
The cost is £20 and the coach will depart at 10.00am from the club car park. A lunch stop is planned en route.
