Successful First Match of the Season

Date: 05 September 2021

Saturday saw the return of first team competitive rugby to Lightfoot Green for the first time in 18 long dreary months. Not only was it a resounding success on the field but also off it.

Huge thanks are due from all members and supporters to Richard, his staff and our dedicated volunteers. There was concern in the weeks leading up to the day that we wouldn’t be able to turn a Vaccination Centre back into a Rugby Club on time but by hook and by crook and with a great team effort which included staff dragooning in their families to help the team succeeded.

The clubhouse and Terrace Bar were buzzing with faces old and new and it was as if the past eighteen months hadn’t been. It was particularly encouraging to see so many new supporters soaking up the atmosphere and children using the revamped play area.

So once again thanks to Richard and team and thanks to all Hoppers who have kept the Club going over the pandemic. I look forward to seeing you over the rest of the season and let’s spread the news to family and friends that Hoppers is the place to be on a Saturday.
