This weekend saw four of our Junior/Youth teams in action in Cup finals around the county.
The U13s and U15s both narrowly won their Blackstick Blue Junior Challenge Cup finals held at Southport.
The U13s beat Fylde on a drop goal shoot out after the match finished 5-5 after normal time – this ensured that Hoppers have won a Junior Cup final for each of the last seven years equalling a record set by Widnes.
The U15s then beat Manchester 6-3 in another tight and nail biting game to make it two in a row for this particular squad of players. The wins by the U13s and U15s also took Hoppers total of Junior Cup wins to 22, more than any other club in the county.
The Junior Colts were in action in the League Cup Plate final against Crewe and Nantwich. Hoppers winning 24-15 in the final that was held at Eccles.
The Senior Colts were also in action against fierce rivals Lymm in the Raging Bull Cup Final at Sandbach. The Senior Colts narrowly lost 19-12 in a hard fought encounter but still have two more Cup finals to look forward to with the Lancashire Cup against Southport at Fylde on 5th May and Cock O’the North final against Billington at Middlesbrough on the 12th May.
All in all a great weekend for the Hoppers Junior Teams.
Congratulations to all players and coaches on their achievements this year.
