Super Stott Signs to Stay

Date: 30 May 2018

PGRFC is delighted to announce the re-signing of impressive youngster Sam Stott for the 2018/19 season.

Stott has enjoyed a hugely impressive first campaign in the senior ranks and has shown a great deal of maturity during the season.

Stott has carried on where he left of last season on a representative basis having been a key part of the victorious Lancashire U20 squad’s County Championship Bowl winning squad. He has been vice-captain of the squad and has also been selected to be part of the North U20 squad for the upcoming interdivisional competition from which the England Counties U20 squad will be selected. Stott captained last year’s England Counties U18 squad.

He has also been selected in the senior Lancashire squad for their upcoming County Championship games.

On his decision to commit to Hoppers, he said “I am very happy to have re-signed with Hoppers! Having had a positive season in the NPL I am really looking forward to moving up to National 2 with the squad and the new challenges it will present. I will be looking to develop further and I’m hoping to lift my performance levels again”.

Head Coach Paul Arnold said “I have been very impressed with how Sam has handled the step up from age group rugby to senior rugby. He is a hugely popular member of the squad and he keeps us old fellas on our toes and feeling young! I knew he was a talented lad and he has come on this season. Sometimes we must remember he is still only 18 but he has a wise head for a young man and works very hard at his game. We will continue to manage him correctly and push him to reach his potential”.

Sam has been sponsored this season by Lloyds South Lakes BMW.
