Team Faffalot to raise money for Rosemere

Date: 21 May 2019

A group of Hoppers rugby players will be getting on their bikes this weekend for a club2club cycle to help raise money for the Rosemere Cancer Foundation.

Nicknamed ‘Cycle Team Faffalot’, the group of 13 riders will be cycling club2club, as opposed to the traditional coast2coast, along the ‘way of the roses’ cycleway from Preston Grasshoppers to Bridlington Rugby Club, on Saturday 25th May.

The 170-mile journey will take around three days to complete, starting at 8am. The team will begin their journey at Lightfoor Green, with the first stop being just half a mile away for breakfast at Preston’s local Ibis Hotel, before they ride to Tosside café for a well-deserved lunch break, and onwards on the journey to Bridlington.

Rosemere Cancer Foundation supports world-class cancer treatment throughout Lancashire and South Cumbria. The foundation is close to the hearts of the entire cycling team, so it’s important that we raise as much as possible for this deserving cause.

Although fundraising has begun, they still have a little way to go to hit that target. With some support, we are confident that they will soon reach their target, and that’s where you come in!

We’re asking for your help and to donate as little, or as much as you possibly can, to this amazing local cause.

Why not check out the group’s fundraising page to find out more about Rosemere, 6nd familiarise yourself with “Cycle Team Faffalot” – the only team likely to put ON weight during this 170-mile cycle.

This is the 7th year that the group have cycled coast to coast, raising an incredible £12,000+ in the previous 5 years.

The team undertaking the challenge are:

Bill Lambert
Tony Callaghan
Stuart Crane
Chris Murphy
Alan (Chef) Nutter
Andy Perman
Andy Newsway
Mike Lyth
Nev Dugdale
Ian Gaskell
Mike Jackson – Driver
Mike (Giggles) Gregory – Driver

Good luck guys – the blisters and sore muscles will be worth it!
