The Grand Depart

Date: 25 April 2012

At just after 07:00Hrs this morning, the Preston Grasshoppers charity cyclists and support crew rolled out of Hoppers car park and set a course for Twickenham.

There was a relaxed atmosphere amongst the group of Sean Jackson, Alan Haworth, Colin Whalley, Dan Talbot, Gavin McQueen, Harry Foster, Mike Gregory, Peter Hollis, Robert Smith & Wayne Steel, and they looked well set for the 280 miles ahead; though there were a few anxious looks skywards at the gathering rain clouds.

The guys are aiming to arrive at Twickenham for the Army v’s Navy game on the 28th, stopping off at various armed forces bases and Aviva premiership rugby clubs along the way; with the aim of raising £5000 for the Help-4-Heroes charity.

Sponsors for the event include Virgin trains, Booths, John Robson Metals & Clive Hurt Plant Hire and charitable donations have been received from a number of leading Aviva Premiership clubs.

The team would very much appreciate the support of the club members and the wider rugby community; sponsorship can be provided via the following link www.bmycharity.com/colinwhalley
