I have been informed today by his brother, Les, that Tony Pickles passed away on 10th December at the age of 95.
Born in January 1927, Tony was the captain of the first team in the 1950/51 season. In the 1950’s he started summer cricket and football teams at the club, and, for a period, Tony was also a trustee of the club.
I am sure that everyone at Preston Grasshoppers would wish to pass on their condolences to his family.
His funeral will take place at St Mary’s Church, Goosnargh on Saturday 7th January 2023 at 11am.
