U12s runners up at Vale

Date: 13 March 2012

Hoppers had representatives at all three age groups at the annual Vale Of Lune Tournament on Sunday. Teams from U10s, U11s and U12s played against teams ranging from Penrith to Lymm.

The U12s finished top of their group, winning all their games without conceeding a point despite a couple of hairy moments against local rivals Fylde in their opening game.

Finishing top saw them qualify for the Cup final against Lymm who also won their group without conceeding a point, however, the U12s lost out to a well drilled and skillful Lymm outfit 15-0 and finished as the Tournament’s runners-up – well done to all the squad that took part.

The U11s fielded two teams in the Tournament. The Fireflies competed well in the group stages but failed to qualify for the later stages. The Hoppers team qualified for the Plate competition but lost out on the toss of a coin following a draw in their semi-final.

The U10s faced an uphill battle after being drawn in the ‘group of death’. The team competed well but unfortunately didn’t progress beyond the group stages.

25th March will see the U7s, U8s and U9s competing in the Vale of Lune Tournament, with our own Hoppers Festival for all age groups taking place on the 22nd April.
