UCLan Sponsor England U18s Fixture

Preston Grasshoppers RFC is to host a taste of six nations teams of the future as the national under 18s teams of England and Scotland scrum down at Lightfoot Lane on March 12.

The match is being sponsored by the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan). Principal Lecturer and Chair of UCLan Sport David Grecic said: “We are delighted to sponsor this prestigious Junior Six Nations game at Preston Grasshoppers and see more international sporting events come to Preston.

“UCLan is a civic institution and we welcome opportunities to work with local partners on fantastic community events to support the development of the City and promote sport and physical activity to all.”

The game will also be played on the club’s new artificial grass pitch, which was officially launched by England head coach, Eddie Jones.

The new pitch was funded by the Rugby Football Union, (RFU) as part of a £50 million national initiative. Simon Jones, RFU AGP operations manager commented: “Hoppers has a rich heritage of producing elite players and some of the youngsters from this club will feature in the under 18s team. It was imperative that to showcase the game and increase participation in the sport we held it at Hoppers at this fantastic new facility.”

Match entry is pay on the gate £8 adults, £4 concessions (incl students) and free for under 16s. Kick-off is at 2.00pm.
