Under 10s too good for visitors

Date: 19 December 2013

The Hoppers U10’s hosted the travelling Kendal and Rossendale teams this weekend and some great rugby was enjoyed all round. The travelling teams have been playing uncontested scrums and lineouts all year so we decided to do the same on Sunday. This actually played in our favour as it was clear that the visitors were also not used to competing in rucks and mauls either, a weakness our lads exploited to the full.

There were strong performances all round: commanding runs from the big boys Regan, Lewes, Aiden and Rocco, big hits from Harry and Benji as usual and great sniping runs and distribution from Will Stanley and Cameron.  Ethan in his first full game made a decent showing, getting stuck in and making accurate passes. Stand out player of the day for me was Jack who was involved in every ruck and maul, he emerged through the middle of a
couple of rucks, ball in hand, and generally made a nuisance of himself at every breakdown.

We won both games and the lads played with great commitment and kept good shape in both attack and defence.

I was pleased!

Yours in rugby
