The eagerly anticipated ex-Colts game vs. Vale of Lune is now less than a week away (Wednesday 21st December 6.30pm KO). In the run up to the this game the website will be featuring the players set to return and play for the club to help remind people of these past players or give an insight into ‘who they are’ for those of you who may well have never seen or heard of them.
Chris Tribley – Hooker or Back row = Chris last played for the colts a couple of seasons ago before heading off to Australia for some travelling. Now at University in Hull studying economics and playing for the University 2nd team – Chris prefers Judo throws to conventional tackling.
Jack Hayward – Front Row = Jack played at hoppers 4/5 years ago. He now plays for Stowmarket 1xv now- London 3 NE. He currently works for his dad as a clockmaker – (not sure if this is some sort of pun?!?) and is making the long trip North especially for this game.
Chris Brooks – Front Row = Last played for hoppers 4 or 5 years ago. Chris played for Hoppers for 10 years, he then played for Fleetwood 1st team for 2 seasons and NewcastleUniversity whilst studying – however he is sadly not playing currently and is working as a laborer for TruGrit services, could this game wet his appetite for more?
Andy Williams – 4/5/6 = Andy last played at Hoppers 4 years ago and is currently playing for both Caernarfon RFC and Bangor University whilst studying a Masters in Applied Sport and Exercise Physiology at Bangor Uni.
John Mahon – Scrum half = John received the ‘Knee high to a Grasshopper’ award after playing in all the mini-junior age groups at Hoppers. John works at Kirkham Grammar school and is currently playing with our 2nd XV after returning to the club in October after making initial contact regarding this fixture.
Oliver Farley – Back Row / Centre = Oli received the ‘Founders Cup’ in recognition for his achievements at the end of the U16 season at Hoppers. He has since spent 2 years training with Wasps whilst at College and is now training with Bradford Bulls alongside studies at Leeds Met. Oli made his last appearance for Hoppers in a cameo for the colts against Blackburn last season.
Tim Molloy – Prop = Tim captained the colts in his final season at Hoppers 4 years ago. He his currently studying at Leeds Met and has been playing at Otley for the past 3 seasons. Tim last represented Hoppers in Rotterdam when he joined a colts tour to Holland 2 years ago.
Pete McVeigh – 14/15 = Pete last played at hoppers 5 years ago, and currently plays for Blackburn 1st Team. He is working as a construction site manager whilst studying for a Masters.
