Vice-Captain Murray Commits Future to Hoppers

Date: 16 May 2018

Popular back five forward and crowd favourite Ally Murray has committed his future to Hoppers for the medium term.

Ally has grown his leadership role during this season and is well respected as vice-captain and has now made over 170 1st XV appearances for the club. Currently he is part of the Lancashire Senior Squad for this season’s County Championship.

Murray said “I am very happy to have committed my future to ‘Hoppers. I have many very close friends at the club and this season has allowed me grow stronger friendships with others. I feel that the club is on the up after the hiccup of relegation and we are back at a competitive level and looking to push forward further.

The coaching team has had a massive influence on me re-signing as they are very forward thinking in terms of rugby but also the most important thing for me is they give me the freedom to go out and play. I have played with a smile on my face and I’ve really enjoy my rugby.

Next season I hope we experience further success and build on the felling of positivity around the club. I’m expecting a very tough and competitive league next year but one I am sure this group of ‘Hoppers can not only survive in but also thrive in. Up the Hoppers!!

Head Coach Paul Arnold said “Ally has really matured this season and is an integral part of our player leadership group. He has set high standards for the squad and led by example in attaining them. He has been consistently good in his performance levels and I’m looking forward to seeing how he goes at National 2 next season”.

Ally has been sponsored this season by The Freemans.
