Hoppers welcome Wharfedale to Lightfoot Green for the last game of the season tomorrow afternoon.
The Yorkshire side sit 8th in the table but could potentially leapfrog Tynedale if they win and the North East side lose. Hoppers on the other hand come into the game 11th with a chance of finishing 10th above Sheffield.
Oga Mabaya
After a long and impressive career, prop forward Oga Mabaya takes the field for the 175th time tomorrow.
Oga first experienced Hoppers 1st XV rugby as an unused replacement on the 18th of September 2011 when Westoe were the opponents. He had to wait until April of that season before eventually taking the field as a replacement at Leicester Lions. The following week Oga started for the first time in a home game against Nuneaton and scored his first try in the next one at Hull.
To date he’s made 174 appearances, 49 of which as a replacement and in so doing has scored 6 tries, but goodness knows how many he’s saved over the seasons. This tally would probably have been a lot higher had Covid and a bad injury not intervened.
