Will and Tommy picked in Six Nations U20’s roles

Date: 09 February 2012

PGRFC are delighted that two young players have been included in their respective national Under 20 squads for this seasons Six Nations Championship. Back rower Will Bordill and former fly half Tommy Bell have been called into the Scotland and England squads respectively with Will featuring for Scotland in their opening round defeat to England.

Will is part of a very young Scotland squad which was out gunned by a more experienced England XV last Friday but did enough to be re-selected for this weekend’s game with Wales U20 in Colwyn Bay. For those of you with Sky TV the match will be shown live on BBC2W (Channel (991) with a 7.35pm kick off on Friday evening.

Will has been part of the Hoppers squad for the last two seasons but has seen his appearances limited this season due to representative calls and his involvement in the Sale Jets. Last season he made 10 starting appearances with a further three from the bench whilst this season he has started 4 games with a further 5 sub appearances. He has been part of the Scottish rugby development pathway for several seasons having featured at Under 17 and Under 18 level already.

Meanwhile Tommy Bell has been selected at fly half for England Under 20’s match with Italy this coming Friday evening in Roivgo. Tommy missed out on selection for the opening fixture with Scotland but now gets his chance. He is currently on loan at Leeds Carnegie from his parent club Sale Sharks and has been a stand out performer for the Yorkshire side as they have rebuilt following last seasons relegation from the Premiership. Tommy played last season at Lightfoot Lane making seven starting appearances and a further four appearances from the bench. He scored 62 points for the club comprising 1 try, 12 conversions and 11 penalties. This season he has been in prolific form for Leeds having notched 215 points to date from 16 appearances. Equally at home at fly half, centre and full back we wish him well as he makes his Under 20’s debut having previously been capped at Under 18 level.

Well done lads!!
