The Wins Roll in for the Hoppers

2018 has been one of the most successful for Hoppers Rollers! Thanks to sponsors Harrison Drury Solicitors, Haleys Business Advisors, Bailey Financial Services and Approved Inspectors.

The season ends on Sunday, when junior cyclist James Noonan will fly the flag for the team at the national hill climb championships in Stocksfield, Northumberland.

Now in its sixth year on the racing scene the club finished 10th overall in the North West and amassed 216 British Cycling regional points and 73 national points. The Rollers social riders helped raised over £5,000 for good causes too, riding in events across the UK and from the south of France to Geneva.

On the racing circuit, Stephen Abbott racked up a number of wins:

Achieved his 2nd category junior licence
Rode national junior events, including the Junior Tour of the Isle of Man and Monmouthshire GP
Finished in the top 10 over 25 times during the season
Finished 2nd in the North West Regionals
Won the Junior championships at the Lewis Balyckyi  Glasdon Crit series
Fastest Junior winner – Rake Hill Climb, Fastest Junior Winner – Nic O Pendle Fastest Junior Winner – Whinlatter

The Hoppers cycling club caters for riders of all abilities with rides every Wednesday evening through the summer from the Preston Grasshoppers. This year scores of riders have been attracted to participate in the different groups which set off around the lanes of Lancashire, all led by experienced riders to offer guidance and support.
