Hoppers overcame a stubborn Vale side whose dogged performance belied their lowly league position. Vale’s determination in addition to a soaking wet playing surface and a hefty wind hampered Hoppers free-flowing brand of rugby. However Mike Lough’s men stayed patient and eventually wore their opponents down. 

Huddersfield shaded this fierce, physical battle in blustery conditions on a sticky surface but Hoppers were well worth their bonus point and should have made more of dominant possession and territory in the second period.
